Mario Marzari Library

The Maritime Museum houses a specialized library that includes the Mario Marzari Collection, after whom the library was named in 2010.

The Mario Marzari Collection consists of a donation by Alessandra Festina of the extensive personal library of the renowned expert on Adriatic maritime history, comprehensive of his private archive of photographs, drawings, and documents.

The library focuses on the historical, ethnographic, technical, economic, and social issues of the Upper Adriatic maritime heritage. It is currently undergoing reorganization and expansion, with the cataloguing of titles yet to be processed and the addition of new acquisitions to the online catalogue.
Sections for illustrated albums, children’s books, fiction, and poetry are being developed, with the aim of making the library a resource covering all possible approaches to the sea—not only as a physical and social space, but also as a narrative and emotional one.
The collection also includes specialized periodicals, including a current subscription to “Neptunia,” and a substantial collection of miscellaneous works.

The library is part of the Sistema Bibliotecario Giuliano, and its catalogued books can be viewed through the electronic catalogue of the National Library Service, Friuli Venezia Giulia branch: www.biblioest.it

The library features a reading room equipped with workstations featuring electrical outlets and Wi-Fi.
