Donation for the Maritime Museum

The City of Trieste may accept donations of objects, works of art, and amounts of money for the Maritime Museum from individuals or legal entities who hold free, full, and unconditional ownership thereof (art. 769 et seq. CC; DL n.42, 22 January 2004).

Notification

Anyone wishing to donate one or more objects or artifacts to the Maritime Museum of Trieste have to submit a Donation Notification Form, which includes affidavit and data processing authorization, along with a photocopy of their identification document.
This form must be sent to museomare@comune.trieste.it or delivered in person following telephone arrangements with the staff in charge:

Anyone wishing to donate one or more books to the Trieste’s Maritime Museum Library have to submit a Donation Notification Form, which includes affidavit, data processing authorization and a detailed list of the volumes, specifying for each book the title, author, publisher and year of publication. A photocopy of the donor’s identity document have to be attached to the documents listed above.
This form must be sent to bibliotecamm@comune.trieste.it or delivered in person
following telephone arrangements with the staff in charge:

The Library reserves the right to reject any duplicate, damaged or unusable items.

Preliminary Review and Evaluation

Following a preliminary review by the curator responsible for the area, the Administrative Section for Culture and Tourism of the Municipality of Trieste will evaluate the contents of the donation notice, taking into account how the donation fits into the existing collections and the acquisition plan, and assessing the ability to bear any associated costs, both financial and organizational/administrative.
